MEET MARCIN LOBACZ

The British, London based Royal Couturier, Marcin Lobacz, is known for his skills of reviving real glamour and effortless elegance. His evocative creations have garnered the attention of the most demanding, fashion savvy and high-profile international clients due to their unique quality, impeccable cut and timeless style. He graduated from BA Fashion at the world class Arts University, the famous Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London.

Marcin grew up in the Opera and Musical Theatre, where his Mother performed as a Soprano and he was lucky to be surrounded by the magical world of classical music, fabulous costumes and the appreciation for Arts. It was the best environment for his natural passion to grow. He has always loved drawing and what he was illustrating, even as a child, revolved around women and what they wore. He presented the catwalk show of his first collection at 15 and since the age of 17 has created bespoke outfits under his own name for private clients, including stars of the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. When he was still a student, designers, whose projects he worked on, included Philip Treacy, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Armani Prive and Julien Macdonald.

Philip Treacy said of him: “He is a fashion animal. Like us … he is obsessed with the fashion.”

The chance of collaborating with such fashion houses and creating dresses for Cher, Rihanna and Kylie Minogue among others, led to the development of his own brand based in London. He has designed not only fashion but also costume for both film and theatre. Some of the world’s most prominent Royal and Aristocratic families have worn his creations- he has dressed H.R.H. Princess Tessy of Luxembourg and H.S.H. Princess Lilly zu Sayn-Wittgenstein as well as celebrities such as Spice Girl Mel B, Tony Award winning Broadway stars Cynthia Erivo, Frances Ruffelle and actress Stephanie Leonidas, to name a few. Marcin was selected to exhibit his outfits at Premiere Vision Paris, Moda In Milan and numerous fashion events to represent brands such as Bulgari, Coty, Mercedes-Benz and L’Oreal.

Marcin’s work was featured by international press including Tatler, Elle Arabia, GQ Italia, GQ Germany, Point de Vue, The Protagonist, Hello! UK, Hola! Spain, Hello! Middle East, Grazia UK, Daily Mail, The Sunday Times Style, London Evening Standard ES Magazine, WWD, Metro, Bild, Bunte Germany and Luxemburger Wort.

American Fashion Journalist and Critic Jeffrey Felner wrote about him: “This is a gentleman of great knowledge, charm and talents. His fashion philosophy is dedicated to women of strength and individuality which also happens to be two of his most marked characteristics. He is a rarity… a treasure!! … In the sea of sameness he stands out and rises above the rest!”

His famous Couture Gown in Turquoise and Orange, the Nassau colours, worn by H.R.H. Princess Tessy of Luxembourg at the Finale Gala closing the Luxembourg National Day and in celebration of her 10th wedding anniversary, was spotted by His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, who invited Marcin to exhibit it during his Royal Global Artistic Forum at The Ritz-Carlton Dubai International Financial Centre. Marcin attended the event in Dubai with Princess Tessy. The Gown was exhibited in “The significance of Court Dress” section of the exhibition next to the gown from The Dutch Royal Court.

The MŁ Couture range includes Bespoke Day, Cocktail, Evening and Wedding Wear made from the most luxurious fabrics; mostly all kinds of real silk, his signature two-tone, hand draped chiffon. One-off dresses can be designed especially for clients or chosen from the collection and fully customized according to clients’ wish.
